The weighting used is based on experience. The weighting can be tailored to your specific market, but I suggest working with the default values at first. As experience is gained, you can start experimenting with the weighting factor.

The formula applied is: KEI score = Popularity^2 x Competition So you give the square weight to the popularity. But why? Why not ^3 or ^3/2 Also the relevance, is out the formula. why not also ad the relevance in this way? KEI score + relevance = Popularity^2 x Competition x 1/ relevance The relevance is tooked linearly, but could also do in square basis.

Just a note on how to find out the competition. Go to your search page (i.e. www.google.com) and enter your keyword. If your keyword is more than one word, place it in quotes. The seach engine will tell you how many matches it found. The number of matches is the numer you fill in for competition.
